Photography
Mia Russo Stern is a New York–based visual storyteller whose lens moves fluidly between the sensual world of food and the quiet poetry of fine-art travel imagery. A long-time creative, she first picked up a camera to capture her own culinary work; today that instinct for flavor and atmosphere shapes every frame she makes.
Food & editorial work
Mia’s food photography is recognizable for its luminous natural light, saturated jewel-tone palettes, and tactile styling—think glistening figs atop ribbons of Brie or confectioners’ sugar caught mid-air over a stack of pancakes. Minimal props keep the ingredients center-stage, and handheld shots add a lived-in spontaneity that invites the viewer to taste and touch.
Fine-art practice
Beyond the studio, Mia turns her camera toward architecture, street life, and fleeting human gestures—Verona’s sun-washed facades, a lone cyclist at golden hour, the balletic arc of a passer-by’s stride. Printed on archival papers in small, signed editions, these works distill each scene to light and line, revealing the same compositional rigor she brings to plated food but with a meditative, painterly hush.
Creative ethos
Whether photographing heirloom carrots or centuries-old stonework, Mia chases authentic color, natural textures, and the emotional spark that turns a moment into a memory. Her dual background in culinary arts and photography fuels a belief that imagery should nourish: it should awaken the senses, tell a deeper story, and help viewers feel more connected—to their food, to place, and to each other.
